Meet Amy
I have struggled with the answer when asked, "What do you do?" and it isn't work-related. Ultimately, we settled on that I find things and untangle things. But I also read (a lot), pretend to wake surf, and watch Hallmark films.

Last week, Jade’s first grade class put on an adorable 10 minute play. Jade was Fairy Godmother #2 (there were 3 of them).
I have to say what an adorable play and all of the kids did an awesome job. They spoke up, they had their lines memorized, the did a great job actually “acting”.
The story was about Cinderella who wanted to be a veterinarian and was making leather slippers to sell and save money for college. Instead of helping her with her goal, the Fairy Godmothers send her off to a ball. But, in the end, her prince gets his own pair of leather slippers and she gets to go to college.
The class worked on the play for about a month. Jade was going through her lines any time she got a chance. Moms and Dads donated their time to help with the sets and costumes. Jade’s teacher worked wonders with these little 7 year olds. I am so grateful for teachers that invest in my children’s future. I love Jade’s school and the special programs that she is able to do – like Spanish.
Jump on over to Seven Clown Circus and join in the fun of Wordful Wednesdays.
When we came across this flower patch, it just screamed for little kids popping up. Harry didn’t think it sounded like fun, so he’s the one running. Ivy was pouting and she wouldn’t squat. Luckily we have Jade and Luke being cooperative.
This week’s theme has to have flowers and a face. So, be sure and check out other entries at “I Heart Faces”
I used to travel twice a month. It was really hard on my family. It sucked for me. But I was gold medallion and always got upgraded. I was gold at Marriott and had saved up a lot of points. Points that I still haven’t used.
Now, I travel as rarely as possible. Unfortunately, this was one of those weeks I had to be away. I spent most of my time being a “booth babe” and eating way too much food that just wasn’t that good.
But I took my camera with me and snapped away as often as possible. I got some fun pictures but in the end, I’m just glad I’m finally on my way home.
I thought the Raleigh Convention Center did an awesome job on their table settings. And for convention food, it was not too bad.
We gave out Cupcake Shoppe cupcakes at our booth. (So did AMD) and neither one of us gave away more than half of our cupcakes. The AMD team gave their mini cupcakes to the catering staff to give to the homeless shelter. We sent ours back to the Lenovo office to gain favor with the Software and Peripherals team.
We ordered 30 dozen cupcakes. Yes 360 cupcakes!!! When the night was over, the photo above shows how many we had left. About 170. WOW did we over order. But we received rave after rave about how delicious they are. So if you ever end up in Downtown Raleigh, swing by the Cupcake Shoppe on Glenwood.
The highlight of the trip for me was going to BUKU in downtown Raleigh with my main Lenovo contact. Jen and I have worked together for nearly 4 years now and have gotten to be good friends. She was able to join me for lunch before I left to head home. The restaurant was delicious and had a very cool atmosphere. Again, if in Raleigh, it is a great place to go. Above you can see the Vietnamese Pho that I had for lunch. Below are the two desserts we split. (Yes I did manage to gain several pounds on this 3 day trip). The first is a Creme Brulee Trio. So delicious. The last photo of the trip is their Hot Apple Tart- the crust was a bit over cooked but the flavor and the cinnamon ice cream was fantastic.
So, there’s my Photo Story Friday and m Give Me Your Best Shot for the week. Check out the others by clicking on the buttons below.

Oh, and because they have added a contest for Natural Light photography I thought I’d add this funny one I took on Mother’s Day. Apparently it take 3 men in my family to change a light bulb. And I thought I had such capable men. Well, you judge for yourself.
It was a beautiful morning in the middle of July. The night before I had planted some new lilies. To my surprise, some of them had already started blooming. I was so excited to check them out.
Barefoot and in my pajamas, I picked up my oldest and ran outside to see their progress.
I love being barefoot. I love the feel of the cold cement or the wet grass or the hot bumpy asphalt. My whole life has been spent without shoes. As an infant and toddler I would cry and cry whenever my mom put shoes on me.
Barefoot and in my pajamas just felt normal or right – the way I’m supposed to be.
Jade and I ran outside to see our beautiful lily. I felt the garden hose under my foot. It was soft, there wasn’t any water in it. My big toe and the next toe separated to accommodate the hose.
I looked down at my foot. I’ve never had beautiful model worthy feet. They have always been calloused and rough because I don’t like shoes. I’m also not great about keeping them polished.
This time, looking at my foot sent me into shock and a seizure.
There was suddenly a big bump on the top of my foot. It reminded me of when some people (gifted and talented people) can cross their toes. Only my toes were crossed right in the middle of my foot.
I set Jade down (remember I was stupidly carrying my 40 lbs 5 year old rather than have her walk barefoot).
Quickly, I went down to the ground and said “Crap!” (I was so proud of myself for not cussing). “I think I just broke my foot!”
With those words, I reached down and uncrossed my toes in the middle of my foot and was instantly out for the count.
I woke up to a cared little girl and a foot that started to swell.
It has been two years now. I’ve had two surgeries and my foot is far from beautiful. Plus, I can’t wear high heels and I’m supposed to wear arch supports. But, it is better and I can be barefoot again.
My only lesson? WATCH OUT FOR THOSE PESKY HOSES!! They will get you if they get the chance.
There are more foot stories and for other great prompts. Just check out Mama Kat’s Losin It
Scott was out of town last Thursday through Saturday. We were looking forward to some fun girl time.
We’d been planning what to do all week. I offered taking them to a movie, baking cookies, going to the Tulip festival or playing in the yard.
Both girls voted for cookie making and I was happy to oblige. I love cooking but I’m not a great baker.
The day after we decided what to do, both girls were being extremely selfish. (They do that more often than I would like to admit).
I sat them down and talked to them about thinking about other people before thinking about themselves. I want them to remember to take care of other’s needs first.
After we finished the discussion, (or lecture) the girls suggested that we make lots of cookies and take them around to all of the neighbors.
So our plan evolved from making some cookies to making a LOT of cookies. Between our family members and our neighbors we decided we needed to make 5 different kind of cookies.
We made Marble Cookies, Rolo Cookies, Milk Chocolate Chip, Peanut Blossom and No Bake Cookies. (Recipes and links will have to follow on another post because my google reader isn’t working and my recipes are at home on my desktop and I’m in Raleigh with my laptop).
The girls both worked really hard on all of the different flavors and were so excited to deliver them.
Jade and Ivy put tissue paper in the bags and then Jade put the cookies into each bag and I tied them up. We used a picture of tulips that I took last year and printed them up at Costco.
The girls ran them around to all of the neighbors that were home and we took the rest on Mother’s Day.
It was a blast doing it and I’m ready to make more cookies and do it all over again.
Check out some great Wordful Wednesdays over at…
