Meet Amy

I have struggled with the answer when asked, "What do you do?" and it isn't work-related. Ultimately, we settled on that I find things and untangle things. But I also read (a lot), pretend to wake surf, and watch Hallmark films.

The Weekend Away
it was amazing
So so good! Orla and Kate are long-time best friends off on a girls' weekend away. Kate is a bit of a player who is trying to get back at her soon-to-be-ex, causing her to spend frivolously and do drugs and hook-ups. Orla is a new mom ex...

Maybe Next Time
really liked it
Parts were a screaming 5 and parts were like “what?” And just irritated me. It is a Groundhog Day premise about a family of four - the mom is caught up in her own life and missing all that is going on around her with her kids and then he...

Finally Friday

I’m so glad it is Friday.  As I said yesterday, it has been a tough two weeks.  But it has also been a great week.  We’ve accomplished a lot.  School has started for both girls and there are parts of it that they both absolutely LOVE.  But there are parts they aren’t enjoying much.  I’m crossing my fingers that those parts will improve.

Jade is now a second grader.  She is supposed to be taking Spanish but apparently she and her friends decided to switch to Arabic.  I pushed for her to learn Chinese.  Oh well, I can’t help her with no matter which one she chose.  She’s got some fun friends at school and they decided each day what color of shirts they should wear the next day.  (I LOVE uniforms).  So far we haven’t had any homework but that should change next week.

Ivy loved her first day of preschool today.  She colored, made a monkey necklace and made some new friends.  I loved taking her and picking her up but was sad because she wasn’t very eager to be taken back to her sunshine school after apple school.  In fact she cried and cried.  After school she told me that she was fine after I left but that she really missed me.  About an hour after school got out, she informed me that she was really excited about school tomorrow because they are going to make playdoh.  “Did you hear what I said, mom?  We are MAKING playdoh!”

My favorite part of this week has been watching the girls become better friends.  Ivy gets to walk to Jade’s school to pick her up.  Together they get to walk hand in hand.  And both of them are complaining about not getting to see enough of each other.  I hope their closeness continues to grow.

Yay for school uniforms. I’m a fan too.

How cool that your girls can choose between Arabic, Chinese, and Spanish! I’m impressed. Do they attend public or private school?

thanks- lucky for me the both love school.

  • Foreign language at such a young age is cool but strange for me. They are beautiful. the sister bond is so important, I hope it grows and grows into best friends.

I love the way they are standing together and holding hands. And the charter school sounds amazing! I would love for my kids to have a good language program, but despite all of the native speakers of all of the different languages, the teachers of the language classes stink’

Wow! Arabic! That is fantastic that the school offers such interesting languages. (ours has the standard… french, german & spanish)

I love that your daughters have such a special bond. How lovely 🙂

I’m still dying that she switched to arabic. I wish they offered german and french- maybe i’m wrong but they seem more useful

Oh! Your gals are simply beautiful. And reading stories about their positive school experiences gives me comfort and hope! I love that they walk hand in hand. Reminds me of me and my sisters. They will get closer, no doubt. And school is never an easy transition. I get anxiety just thinking about all the kiddos going back to school over these next few weeks! Props to you for making it through!

the beginnings of the best of friends! I was so happy when I had two daughters so they will always have a best friend no matter where they are in their life

yep- it’s one of the things i love about her charter school. now that she’s on the Arabic track, she can’t change again until 6th. Chinese would have been so much more useful, especially since the whole world will eventually be speaking it 🙂
